We have a Friday fun mismatch activity today, as well as a caramel sucker sale with student leaders.

As we head into the weekend, these are two articles that are nice reminders about self care. There might be an idea you could try over the next week. It doesn't have to be something fancy, instead, simply taking time for yourself. This blog is from Joann's and the Kids in Need Foundation:

We start the day with our monthly leadership assembly, via video. It can seem overwhelming right now, but we have much to celebrate and recognize. This assembly will recognize both staff and students that we are super proud of, as well as giving our student lighthouse team an opportunity to lead and find their voice.

We're trying really hard to assist our students with making safe and appropriate choices online. Social media isn't always good. This post is a great resource that might have links that fit with your lesson plans. You could save the blog link and check during the year to see if any student reports fit with what you are teaching. Students would also see how the internet can be used in a positive and appropriate manner. The student reports also expose students to diverse perspectives, including learning about other cultures. These are student reporters from Scholastic:

Today is fall picture day. We do have a makeup day for pictures planned. As we have students out sick, please help reassure families that there is another day planned for pictures.

The weather is changing. Please help remind students to wear warmer clothing.

We want students to love reading, to read independently. We definitely see that with our kinders after school. While it's not pleasant waiting for the bus due to being short drivers, books make the time go by quickly. We also had a great Boys activity this week. Families were great about spreading out. We had legos on the lawn, yummy stem creation treats, lego art, a family picture, and more. Here are pictures from this last week:

We have our first family event today. It is for the boys, from 5:30-6:30 pm. We will be outside. Activities will be spread out and families will be encouraged to be mindful of space around others. We will have masks available as well.

It will be a fun assortment of activities and the theme is Legos, a STEM focus. While the boys are encouraged to bring their favorite gal, like mom or grandma, we definitely welcome whomever is able to attend. We've had questions, from single dads to two dad homes. All are welcome. Please help remind our boys. Every family will go home with a family photo. That is always one of the favorite activities during this event.

The girls are a bit miffed. You can remind them that their event is in February.

As we often say, we're either crying or laughing at our school. Thought for today:
