Today is the last day of school for 1st-5th grade students. Dismissal is at 12:45 pm.

We may not be having our normal school carnival, but, we are having an awesome alternative. Today is our fun day. Today is also the last day of school for kindergarten. We have the all school picnic for lunch as well. In addition, we will be drawing names for the kindness drawing. We have fun family games for students to win, so they can practice math and literacy skills over the summer. We will announce names throughout the day. Today is going to be awesome. 

Here is the schedule. Kindergarten starts with station 1, first grade with station 2, and so on. We move in a clockwise rotation. If any adults are looking for a spot to assist, we have all of our kinders and they would love a positive adult.

We have our last sharpen the paw this morning. We will start at 8:45 am. 

For our fun day activity tomorrow- Please help remind students to dress for the weather and for being outside. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates.

As we are ending the school year, please let families know that we can put together food boxes from items in our school pantry. We will also start passing out boxes during dismissal, as students are being picked up. We've had very gracious community donations. 

Please continue to check lost and found. 

We are always talking with students about going on to college or some type of specialized training through CSI. Education can change the direction of a family, can entirely change your future. I can personally speak to that. Today we have a great opportunity for our students. The graduates from Canyon Ridge will be visiting our school, in their graduation attire. 

Please have students lined up around the walking track outside, so we can safely be in a large group, by 1:00 pm. Graduates will start arriving by 1:15 pm. It is always exciting to see our former students and congratulate them.

We start the day by recognizing our readers of the month during breakfast.

We have the final school store for most classrooms during morning recess and afternoon recess.

The weather is finally cooperating. Please make sure students are drinking water.

This is a nice check in about social emotional skills in the classroom, like morning meetings. Even with only a few days of school left, it is important for students to have opportunities to express emotions and end on a positive note. We have students moving, students going on to middle school, and students unsure about home situations. Adding in a summer holiday break and removing the normalcy of school can be hard. Students can show their emotions in unkind ways as a school year ends. Great ideas that match what we strive to include every day:

Today is our last Friday fun for the school year. The theme is crazy hair and crazy hats. 

We are so close to the finish line with state assessments. The line up for today includes: IRI for K-3rd, ISAT make ups for 4th and 5th, and we will be having our online students finish their ISAT assessment today.

Today is the last food theme for staff appreciation week. We ate healthy yesterday. Today we will have an assortment of yummy cookies. Cookies are perfect for breakfast. Food will be ready first thing in the morning. 

We have two weeks of school left and the summer holiday break is so close. Thought for today:

We have our last ISAT assessment this morning. Students in grades 3rd-5th will be finishing their math test. 

For staff appreciation week, we have yummy fruit themed items today. After the yummy cinnamon rolls, fruit is a great food theme. We will have the food out first thing in the morning.

For staff appreciation week, the kitchen will have a yummy treat available during morning recesses. 

We have kindergarten open house at 5:00 pm. This is via video and we will be welcoming new kindergarten students that will be starting school in August.

We have 3rd - 5th grade students completing their math ISAT assessment this morning. Thank you for helping to keep those hallways quiet.

Our food theme today for staff appreciation week is cheese and crackers, during afternoon recesses. Crackers are packaged in individual servings, take the entire package. We then have an assortment of yummy cheeses to choose from. 

This article is a great reminder to focus and look for those things that make you smile, things that make your heart grow, things that help to distract from the covid items we'd like to put behind us:
