We purposely don't plan very much for the first week back in January. We usually have staff still traveling back, new students enrolling, and adjusting to being back in school after a long break. Use the first week to review procedures, focus on community building activities and morning meetings, and review behavior expectations.

Thursday December 16th, 2021

This big event today is the second quarter sharpen the paw. We start at 8:45 and end at 10:30 am. This is a great opportunity to build positive rapport with students. This is always a fun activity; which both students and staff look forward to at the end of each quarter.

Wednesday December 15th, 2021

We start the day with our monthly leadership assembly, 8:05 via video.

We have a yummy Christmas lunch today. It is free for all staff and students. Students have been heard talking about this, excited to enjoy delicious food. Second chance breakfast will be pick up from the lunchroom and then eating in classrooms, so our kitchen staff can focus on preparing lunch items. 

We end the day with a staff meeting. We have our final certified staff sharing items from their evaluation framework. The staff sharing today are:

- 1st grade

- 3rd grade

- 5th grade

- preschool

Christmas Party List

We have awesome pictures to share. We are wrapping up the second quarter. That means assessments, leadership notebooks, report cards, and reflection. We have a great picture of two young ladies from kindergarten. They were so excited to see the progress in their leadership notebooks.

We have pictures of students adding food around the Christmas tree. Several of our families benefit from our school pantry. Students love contributing to the food drive, even just one item. We want all of our students to experience giving during the holiday season. That often occurs from staff bringing in items, so every student has something to add to the tree.

We love recognizing our monthly readers of the month. Students love picking out a free book to take home and read with their family. We use Title 1 family involvement money to purchase the books and this activity fits perfectly.  We want our students to love reading, especially with their family.

The last pictures include Friday fun and preparing for the all school virtual holiday concert. We love to sharpen the saw at Harrison:

We start the day with our monthly breakfast with books. It's always great to recognize our readers of the month.

We have a staff meeting after school today. We will be starting about 3:25-3:30. We are continuing with certified staff sharing from domains one and four, from their evaluation form. The people sharing today are:

Today is Friday fun. Bring out the Christmas sweaters and ugly Christmas sweaters. Pajamas are also an option, so every student can feel included. We also have student leaders selling candy canes for .50 cents each. We need the holiday fun.
