As we continue kindness week and prepare for bully prevention week, Be a Buddy and Not a Bully Week, this article is a nice review of proactive skills that assist in building an inclusive school where all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, safe, and know that they matter. Social-emotional learning is essential:

Tuesday January 29th, 2019

We start the day with the monthly leadership assembly and we end the day with the school spelling bee after school in the library.

We have a family note going home this week. The back page has the basket themes for our Spring Title 1 family night. The donations received so far for the baskets are also listed on that page and the list is very impressive. Our local community has been very generous and kind with donations. The office will make copies:

The pictures this week include two activities with our student lighthouse members. They started the week with tours for ISU students who are interested in becoming teachers. Students did a great job with speaking and listening skills. Students have also been making invitations for area businesses. On Friday they visited places that included the police department and the fire department. Students were able to learn from leaders in our community. A big thank you to Mrs. Nelson, our school counselor, and Mr. Nava, our school security aide, for accompanying the students.

There are also pictures from Ms. Schroeder's classroom. They used Skype with a 9th grade Earth Science class at Twin Falls High School. They were learning Science skills together, with a few Science jokes included.

Pictures also include teddy bears during Music class that always make people smile:
