We start the day with our monthly leadership assembly, via video.

We end the day with a staff meeting. We most likely will start at 3:30 due to the bus driver shortage. This is via video. This is a great staff meeting with a variety of important topics. Thank you for being patient with the time situation, as we really need to cover all of the items on the agenda.

Here are a few posts that are great resources. There should be an area of interest for everybody.

Classroom management idea- ask 3 before me- with a short video that you could share with students.

Executive functioning skills- This is a great eye opener. We can all relate. Several students are struggling with how to function in a classroom. Simple tasks that we assume students should be able to accomplish, like perseverance and attending to a task for a certain amount of time, is actually quite challenging. As students are now back in the classroom with a larger group of peers, we are needing to teach these essential skills. While the article focuses on technology to assist, the list of essential skills is a great reminder of key items to assist students with developing.

Strategies for second language students- the strategies would also be great for students with limited language and those with language services on IEP's.

Stress calming strategies- great ideas for staff

We have always had ISAT practice tests completed by our third, fourth, and fifth grade students. There is a new test option called the ICA, interim comprehensive assessment. Students will be completing this test during the week and we are excited to have accurate student data that is current.

Pictures from the last couple of weeks show math learning in first grade and learning to read in kindergarten. There is a picture from the public library visiting preschool and students choosing to get their homework done while they wait for late buses after school.

Please help remind students and families that there is no school on Friday.

Friday is a much appreciated day for staff to happily check items off our long to do lists. We will also be announcing names throughout the day for door prizes. If you are at the school on Friday, not just certified staff, you will definitely be included in the drawings. While not an all inclusive holiday vacation, the prizes are awesome.

Wednesday October 13th, 2021

We start the day with our monthly breakfast with books. Reading is our school wide WIG, increasing scores. We love recognizing students for their reading skills, from growth to perseverance.

We end the day with a staff meeting. The topic is perfect, but the bus driver shortage causes a pickle. We will start at 3:30 and end at 3:45 to respect certified staff contract time. While a short meeting, Amy is going to share great resources and ideas for behaviors. This will be via video. Please feel free to follow up with her after the meeting if you would like additional support or resources from her. Classified staff are always welcome to attend staff meetings if the topic catches your eye.
