Monday October 11th is International Day of the Girl. This is a great reminder of the importance for education of young women. As we get the great opportunity to work with young girls who often live in families with limited financial income, young girls who represent different cultures and languages spoken within the home, and young girls who often are facing other challenges to overcome: educated women can entirely change families in a positive way. We get the opportunity to ensure that all of our female students find their voice, increase their academic skills, be exposed to STEM careers, and know that they are valued. The theme this year is women in leadership and this fits perfectly.
Thought for today:
As we finish the first quarter of school, please remember to recognize the growth that you have made. It has been rough, no denying, but every staff member has been incredible as they have persevered through crazy days that none of us would have imagined. We have the best staff.
Please take time this weekend to do something you love. I will be grading third grade assignments and filling out report cards like most of our teachers, but I will be in pajamas and enjoying my favorite home activities. Please take time for yourself. Thought for today:
Please continue to remind students that the weather is changing. This includes wearing coats, warmer shoes, and warmer clothing. We have community resources that we can match up with families.

We have kindergarten teaming this morning. Amazingly, we completed grade level teaming for first through fifth grade on Tuesday, even with a few rough bumps and moments of immediate student needs. A big thank you to all the extra hands that assisted.
We have our monthly staff lighthouse meeting after school, 3:30 via video. Please let a rep know if you would like something added to the agenda.
Isn't this the truth. I hear staff recognizing colleagues and I see staff giving their all, often when others don't see. Super proud. Thought for today:
We have grade level teaming for first through fifth grade today.
We have the public library visiting with preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Every student will be receiving a free book to take home and share with their family. This will be monthly during the school year. We are excited to have this grant with the library again.
