It will be very cold today, so we are looking at an inside day for recesses. That includes before school, so please put books and hands on activities out in the hallways as students start arriving. Let us know in the office if students need warm weather attire.
Our building leadership team meeting/staff lighthouse meeting has been rescheduled for Monday after school, and our grade level teaming with Mrs. Buschhorn has been rescheduled for Friday next week.
This thought includes several items that would also be great to share with students as well. Great reminder as we start a new year:

We have grade level teaming on Thursday with Mrs. Buschhorn. We all work with second language learners, and the information provided will be helpful for all students. Everybody is welcome to attend. You can choose any grade level team during their block/specials time. The information provided and discussed will be really helpful.
This post is a great reminder of the importance for diversity in classrooms and schools. Harrison reflects the real world, and that is a good thing. My favorite part of traveling is the experiences and learning gained from being around diverse people, and in diverse places. Our students and staff are very lucky to have that provided every day, and our students are very lucky to have such qualified staff pushing them everyday:

This picture of a pizza not only looks delicious, but is also a great reminder for differentiation and including student voice. We are all working towards the same end goals, but the paths along the way might look different:

Early dismissal is at 1:15.
Have a great Christmas and holiday break with your family and friends, and sharpen the saw! It's been a busy, and fun, week. Thank you for ensuring that students had fun and laughter. You've earned your break. Our kids are very blessed at Harrison, especially as I've seen them walk out the door with arms full of goodies.

Today's Christmas fun is to wear pajamas, and tomorrow's Christmas fun is to wear Christmas scarves and jewelry.
We have Sharpen the Paw, a yummy BUCHHO salad bar for staff, and Christmas classroom parties.
This is a great positive story of a lady bringing Science to children at a hospital:

We have a staff meeting after school in the library. Our goal is to start at 3:25.
A big thank you to all the staff that have donated Winter clothing for students, food, and Christmas items for students! Please let the office know if you know of a student/family who could use assistance, especially as we are about to send them home for the holiday break. A box of food was dropped off Tuesday evening to a family. There were tears of thanks, smiling children jumping all around, and one licking their lips as they saw the food!
Today's Christmas fun is to dress like your favorite Christmas toy, and tomorrow is to wear pajamas.
Fun today includes Santa visiting, Kindergarten parties, ESL parties, and Christmas lunch with families.
This a a great thought for today. Remember all the great experiences that students are experiencing at school this week:

Today's Christmas fun is to dress like a reindeer, and tomorrow is to dress like a favorite Christmas toy.
Please remind families about Christmas lunch tomorrow. Students love to have a special person eat lunch with them.
