We start the day with our monthly leadership assembly, 8:05 via video.
It's been a bit rough with sub shortages this week. Add in positions not filled, like playground and paras. A big thank you to everybody, jumping in and helping so school continues to function as normal as possible.
We truly would be in a pickle if we didn't have teamwork. Synergy keeps our school moving. Thought for today:
We have a few staff who will be checking in with our Leader in Me coach today, via video, for action team learning and planning.
This is a neat website. It was created with the focus of students learning at home, children being at home more due to Covid, and school nutrition services programs that are all trying to ensure that children are eating healthy foods at home. There might be ideas for you, your own children, or ideas for our classrooms that integrate food with learning during the school day. There is also a link for handwashing resources:

The big event today is our annual Leadership Day. It is all virtual this year and the videos are awesome. The link will be emailed in the morning. Students are going to love viewing. Amidst a crazy year that we would like to forget, this is a great way to highlight student and staff perseverance. We have so much to celebrate and recognize.

Meetings/Reminders for the week:
We have several pictures from the last two weeks. These would be great to share with students.
Recess has had an assortment of weather conditions. We have one picture with first grade boys playing rock paper scissors on dry ground, so kind towards each other. Then the next day we had a group of second grade boys also synergizing, as they built an awesome snow person.
We are always recognizing that kindness that the boys exhibited. We celebrated the annual kindness week and one young lady brought a kind note to the ladies in the kitchen who always make sure our kids are well fed.
We have a great picture of our school counselor. She ensures that our students and families have resources that they need.
There is a great picture of a young lady from fourth grade. She has been recording herself reading books for younger students. This allows her to practice her reading skills. It's a great example of blended learning with technology as well.
Speaking of blended learning, oh what a year it has been. Students completed winter assessments this week. Students and staff have worked hard this year to integrate technology, complete distance learning with hybrid learning, and persevere through interventions and extra help resources. We recognized Readers of the Month and student growth within classrooms. It might not be the growth we have seen in past years, but we're all surviving a pandemic, and that is something to recognize.
Finally, we have pictures of first grade students practicing math skills as they used their math tools. We also have a great picture of super hero young ladies from second grade.
Thought for today:
We're ending the week with Friday fun, super heroes all over the school. We also have Dr. Seuss writing notepads for the monthly sale.
Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. Let the office know if any students need cards.
Thought for today:
Please help remind students about Friday fun tomorrow. The theme is super hero day. That could be represented in many ways, from a hero of kindness to traditional super heroes.
Thought for today:
We start the day with our monthly recognition of students who are readers of the month.
The big event today is our winter IRI/Istation testing. Thank you for helping to keep the hallways quiet while students are testing and for providing positive encouragement to students.
